Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world."
A stolen joy often begins with stolen attention. Endless scrolling trains you to be present everywhere except where you are, and it becomes difficult to hear God’s voice in the noise. The invitation of Scripture is not merely to stop moving, but to know God—to regain a steady awareness of His nearness and authority over your life.
Stillness is a spiritual discipline that restores clarity. When you practice pausing, you interrupt the cycle of impulsive checking and you create room for God to re-order your desires. This is how your online habits begin to change: not by sheer willpower alone, but by replacing restless consumption with reverent attention to the Lord.
What moments in your day are most vulnerable to mindless checking (waking up, waiting, before bed, during stress)?
Set one specific boundary for today (no phone for the first 15 minutes after waking, or no social media after a certain time).
Spend five minutes in silence with Psalm 46:10; what word or phrase stands out to you?
Notice how your body feels when you reach for your phone; what might God be inviting you to face or feel instead?
Create a “holy replacement” plan: when you feel the urge to scroll, choose one alternate action (pray, text encouragement, take a walk, read Scripture).
