D1 UPWARD MINISTRY

Our mission is promoting the discovery of Jesus through sports - to use the power of sports to share the gospel and promote the discovery of Jesus in our community.

We view sports through the lens of a greater purpose - which means the impact can extend far beyond the game. Sports break down barriers and create a powerful catalyst for building relationships with people and provide an opportunity for our church to serve others. All children deserve opportunities to be active, learn, and have fun! Luke 2:52 - "Jesus grew in wisdom and stature in in favor with GOD and man." Our sports programs are designed to engage the whole athlete - mind, body, spirit, and soul. We strive to develop all children mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially.

If you are interested in any of our current programs, registration is typically about 2 months prior to the start of the season, and we welcome participants from kindergarten (age 4) through 8th grade.

Upward Volleyball season runs August through October
Upward Basketball & Cheer season runs January through March.

Information on the 2027 Upward Basketball and Cheer Season

Decatur, Il - D1Naz & St. Paul Lutheran
K4-8th Grade, all levels Co-ed. Levels will be combined depending on registration numbers.
Sessions planned for Saturdays. Teams, session times, and locations will be determined as registrations progress.
All sessions will include practice time, devotion, and game play.
Volunteers needed! This program is run by volunteers and relies on volunteer coaches, devotion leaders, and other behind the scenes activities. If you are interested in helping make this ministry a success, please reach out or sign up.
