"Honest prayer in pain" Author: Deb Hancock

Scripture: Psalm 13:1-2 & Hebrews 4:16

God welcomes raw, honest prayer!

“Oh Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart everyday? How long will my enemy have the upper hand?” Psalm 13:1-2

How long, Lord? How long will these struggles and disappointments last? How long with these health issues last? How long before this difficult relationship is better? How long before I find someone? How long will I struggle with addictions? How long will these temptations be there?

Four times in Ps. 13:1, David cries out “How Long?” I’ve been there. How ‘bout you? Have you wondered if He’s listening or even there…or “hiding His face” as David said. Those times when I seems the “enemy” has the upper hand, look ahead to vs. 3-5 We keep trusting, keep rejoicing and keep worshipping “Through it all, through it all, my eyes are on you….” Sing with me?

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews4:16

Doesn’t it amaze you that we can come to the throne of Creator of the universe, In our imperfection and receive love, strength and help. So what’s holding you back from coming boldly to the Throne? When these times come, lay it down.

Prayer

Lord, We worship you. Thank you for your goodness to us today and in the battles in the days ahead. We trust Your plan and thank you for Your unfailing love, Amen
