"Jesus Meets Us Where We Are"
Author: Pattie Brackett
Scripture: Romans 5 : 8-10
Jesus can meet you right where you are and you may not even know he is about to change your world. Recall the story of the women at the well? Just an encounter / conversation with Jesus and our lives change. Do you recall a time when you had an encounter with Jesus and your life was changed? Reflect on that for a moment.
Was your encounter anything like this? In distress, tears streaming down your face, voice of groans and mere utterances, giving up? Not a churchy place- rather far from it? No worship song playing / pleading just to come as you were? No alter to bow at, only to fall where you were? No perfect scripted prayer, not sure of the lingo? No proper posture, just a crumbled mess?
Is this similar to where Jesus meet you?
He can, you know! No demands to get up and be strong. He see us at our weakest, lowest, worthless state, yet he kneels down with us, cups our face and calls us his child. He stays there with us. The ugly cry stops. The peace in his face and the comfort of his pierced hands changes us.
Romans 5 : 8-10 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: WHILE we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Prayer
Lord wherever we find ourselves today we know that you love us! Scripture say, “while” we were yet sinners, maybe we knew we were sinners, maybe we didn’t recognize the sin, maybe we recall a time of being a sinner, you were loving us and calling us to you through it all. Forgive us and we invite you to be ever present in our lives. Please be miraculous in the lives that so need you today. Amen.
