"Obedience Ain’t Easy!"

Scripture: Philippians 2:8 & Hebrews 5:8

Philippians 2:8 says “He took the very nature of a servant. He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on the cross.” 

Taking a lower posture like Jesus did just isn’t normal….Stay obedient. Be a servant? Be humble? Be lower than…? Be unselfish? GIVE YOUR LIFE?? Wait, WHAT?

Yep, as believers, we need to adopt this mindset – valuing others above ourselves and serving without selfishness. We should ask ourselves this hard question, “Where is God calling me to surrender control or humble myself for the sake of serving others?” Obedience definitely Ain’t Easy!

Hebrews 5:8 says “Even though Jesus was Gods Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.”

Do you have an area of hardship in your life right now? We have a choice every day... trust and obey God OR despair. Jesus went through _____________ (a lot- fill in the blank) so that makes Him the perfect One to understand our struggles, doesn’t it? I know, for me, the parts of my life that I choose go my own way (away from God) I certainly don’t want to repeat or relive. Despair ain’t easy either.

I learned that our Father knows the easier path. He guided me to D1 Naz where there was a bunch of folks full of love and a way for me to serve. I’m a part of a wonderful, loving but flawed family learning together how to be obedient. “Oh, what a Savior, isn’t He wonderful?”

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Thank you for suffering for us all to death for our salvation. When we struggle and suffer, remind us that we can learn how to endure because you’re with us and provide strength through it all. Amen
