"Trusting God with the Outcomes"

Author: Jim Reynolds

Scripture: Proverbs 16:9 &  Isaiah 55:8-9

What are your plans for the future? Maybe you are planning to finish high school, planning on college, you’re dating now and have plans of marriage and kids one day. Maybe your plans are to move up the ladder in your career or to retire. Maybe you’ve planned to go into ministry or missions. We all have plans but our plans should be focused on what God’s plan is for us. Do you sometimes feel it is hard to discern God’s plans from your own? You’re not alone. Bathe all planning in prayer before the planning and take time to listen to God speaking to you, to God speaking to you through others, see God sending signals to you. We need to be paying attention and not be so busy planning that we ignore Him connecting with us.

Proverbs 16:9 says “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps”.

You are probably like me, looking back at life and realizing that things didn’t always go as you thought it would. But for me looking back I see God was in the midst of it all. Sometime He changed my plans to meet His. Sometimes things did not go as planned (not because God did something but circumstances or others changed the course) but later, I looked back and saw, God was right there leading me and correcting the course of my life. Our Lord has a master plan. Nothing surprises Him, He knows what’s going to happen before it happens. God’s master plan includes all people from all generations and all nations. It includes the environment we live in; it includes heaven and earth. God has it all under control.

To close, I want you to read with me Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways your ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher that the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Give your plans over to the Lord.
