"WHEN TEMPTATION HITS HARDEST"

Author: Deb Hancock

Scripture: Matthew 4:2 & 1 Peter 5:8

TEMPTATION COMES WHEN WE ARE TIRED, HUNGRY OR WORN DOWN. No one is immune either. You’re never too old or strong enough to not be tempted so don’t be surprised when it hits. Keep in mind, Jesus was tempted as a man and in that humanity, he was able to recognize the source and say “NO” to the enemy. He fought the temptation, just like he knew we would have to, when weak, hungry and exhausted.

“For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry”. Matthew 4:2

This world has a way of messing with our focus. We don’t need to be in a literal wilderness…we can still be in a state of unawareness to the devils’ deceptions. There are distractions everywhere. Right? When we get off track, we need to not panic, stay rooted in what we know, pray for strength and, like Jesus, JUST SAY NO!“ Temptation is the enemy looking through the keyhole. Yielding is opening the door and inviting him in.”

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

Prayer

Father, thank you for your promise to always be with us when we face temptation. Thank you for the reminders that even though temptation will come, we won’t fail if we look to You for strength and stay obedient to Your Word. In your precious name, Lord. Amen
