40 Days of Prayer - Day 13
God’s Love and Acceptance
Author: Tom Ness
Zephaniah 3:17 – "For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He willtake delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."
1 John 3:1 – "See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know Him."
Devotional:
Are we not blessed to have the privilege to worship and be a part of the family of God?How often do you see the skyline of the horizon and think to yourself that it is God’s beautiful picture? Or look at your children or loved ones and think to yourself, "I thank God for this gift?" If we have the right frame of mind and are in tune with the Holy Spirit, we can find God’s love just about anywhere.
We first experience God’s love by the grace that he bestows upon us when we accept him as our Lord and Savior. We are born as sinners, and even though Jesus died upon that cross and redeemed us for our sins, we cannot accept that gift until we have accepted him and acknowledge him as our Lord and Savior.Think back to a time before you accepted Christ, if you look and think hard enough, you can see where his love was abundant even then, that is because his love for us is there from the day we are born. But the gift that he wants to give us is not available until we have accepted him.
We are called to go out and be disciples and grow the family of Christ. I know it is my dream for when I die and go to heaven, that all of my loved ones are there. So I challenge you, if you know someone that has not accepted Christ or may have fallen away from him, to reach out to them, show the love of Christ that God has put onto your heart. God’s love for us was his ultimate sacrifice, so it is not too much for us to sacrifice, in order to love for others for the kingdom.
Prayer:
Dear heavenly father, we thank you so much for each, and every blessing that you have given us, Lord God, and I pray that you are able to fill us up with the Holy Spirit so that it comes out of our pores Lord. That we are able to be more like you each and every day, Lord God. Please guide us to help those that are lost and show them the love in which you have shown us. We love you and we thank you Lord God, amen.
