40 Days of Prayer - Day 14
Encouragement to Let Go of Shame
Author: Tom Ness
Revelation 3:20 - "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
He stands at the door and knocks
Knock knock knock
It doesn’t matter what you have done.
Yes you there with hate in your heart. I am here. Let me in.
Hey, you that struggles with lust, anger, bitterness, shame... I’m here. Let me in.
Yes, even you that do not believe that I even exist. I am here. Let me in.
Who hears their door knock and first looks out the peep hole? What would you do if you saw Jesus? Would you just be like, "I’m sorry, but I’m not ready for you to come into my house yet."
Would he leave? No. I imagine he would find a place to rest on your porch or yard, talking to your neighbors and passersby’s.
What do you think would be going through his mind as you walk out the front door daily and pass him? He says Hello… your like Hi and go about your day.
Would you feel guilt? Shame? Indifferent?
For years I never truly let him in my house. I let him sit on my porch and said "Hi" and went on my day. Yes, I think back now and I feel guilt because of it.
One day though, I decided to open that door, and to this day I know I can see his blessings.
I think I try to make up for all the time I didn’t let him in. Which I know I don’t need to do because once we accept him fully, we are given the greatest gift of Grace and forgiveness.
I challenge you. Are you letting him just sit on the Porch? Do you feel that tug on your heart to answer the door, step aside and let him in?
LET HIM IN! It’s a decision you’ll never regret.
Prayer:
Dear Lord I pray for the lost and the prodigals, I pray Lord that you can use me to help guide those either to you or back to you. All we have is due to you and we thank you for it.
Amen.
