40 Days of Prayer - Day 4
Lamenting: A Cry from the Heart
Author: Deb Hancock
Psalm 42:11 (NLT) “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put myhope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!”
King David was sick, betrayed and battle exhausted. He felt very alone and forgottenby God. He’d even been taunted with the words, “Where is this God of yours?”Seemed like a hopeless situation but David knew that his answer, even though heprobably didn’t “feel like it”, was to PRAISE GOD.
We can do without a lot of things, but HOPE is not one of them. We need hope tosurvive; to even get out of bed some days. Hope isn’t wishful thinking or optimisticfeelings (vibes?) but a confident expectation that God will do exactly what He said.David knew where to turn and what to do…eventually.
Prayer:
Thank you Father for your Word. Thank you for the promise of your presence when wesincerely seek You. On days that aren’t great, help us to remember to trust, obey and PRAISE You for our Hope. Amen
